Grandmother Coolidge's Floating Islands
A fancy dessert that will impress guests!
BASE CUSTARD:

1 can condensed milk
2 cups Hellmann's Mayonnaise
1 can water (use can from milk)
1 tbsp. vanilla extract

ISLANDS:

4 egg whites
4 tbsp. granulated sugar
Few drops of lemon juice.

To prepare custard: Mix condensed milk to mayonnaise and water, then heat on stove, stirring constantly! (Do NOT let it BOIL! If this mixture DOES boil, it's no good because the bottom will be burnt! husband -- if he's like mine he'll eat anything!) When the mixture thickens (approximately 15 minutes!), remove from stove, add the vanilla and pour into a large glass serving bowl.

To prepare islands: Beat egg whites until stiff (approximately 5 minutes!), slowly add sugar and lemon juice! When they're stiff and holding peaks, add in big spoonfuls to top of custard mix in glass bowl to look like Floating Islands!
