SPICY CRAB STEW
Spicy Crab Preparatin - Indian Way
500 grams cleaned and dressed Crabs.
250 grams of Refined Oil.
100 grams Tamarind.
4 large Onions - Chopped.
6 Cloves.
6 Cardamoms.
2 inch Cinnamon stick.
2 spoons Poppy seeds.
2 Spoons chopped Ginger.
2 spoons Mustered seeds.
6 Garlic bulbs.
3 Spoons Red Chilly powder.
6 lengthwise cut Green Chillies.
1 bunch Coriander leaves.
2 spoons Turmeric powder.
Salt to Taste

 

Clean the Crab pieces. Marinate them for about 1/2 hour by applying turmeric powder, one spoon red chilly powder, one spoon salt and two spoons of oil.

Add one cup of warm water to the tamarind, soak for fifteen minutes and extract thick juice.

Take half of the chopped onions, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon, poppy seeds, ginger pieces and garlic bulbs and one spoon salt in to a grinding jar and grind the spices into a smooth paste.

Take a deep bottomed frying pan, add oil and heat. Add remaining onions, green chillies, mustered seeds and the remaining two spoons of red chilly powder and saute well. Add the spices paste also and fry until brown.

Add the marinated crab pieces to the above preparation and fry well. Now add the tamarind juice, sufficient salt and some water. Cook until the crabs are done well. Spread the finely chopped coriander leaves over the top of the stew.

SERVE HOT WITH RICE AND ANY OTHER NON SWEET MAIN COURSE DISHES.
