Shrimp in Sorrel Soup
Tasty Shrimp In Sorrel Leaf Soup
2 Bundles of Red stemmed Sorrel
500 Grams peeled Shrimp
300 Grams Refined Oil
100 Grams Tamarind
2 Spoons Ginger-Garlic Paste
6 Lengthwise split Green Chillies
2 Spoons Mustard Seeds
1 Spoon Turmeric powder
1 Cup chopped Onions
2 Spoons Red Chilly Powder
8 Garlic bulbs
Salt to Taste

 

Wash the shrimps thoroughly. Add turmeric powder, ginger-garlic paste, one spoon salt and two spoons of oil and marinate for about thirty minutes.
Add 2 cups of warm water to tamarind, soak for fifteen minutes and extract juice.

Wash the sorrel leaves and chop them into finer bits.

Take a wok (deep bottomed pan), add oil and heat. Add Green chillies, mustered seeds, chopped onions, garlic bulbs and red chilly powder. Saute well. Add marinated shrimps and fry until they turn brown. Add the sorrel leaves, mix well and allow to simmer for five minutes.

Now add tamarind juice, two cups of water and sufficient salt. Stir well and cook until the preparation slightly thickens and the dish is well cooked.
