Hi everyone, :D
I am on the beautiful island of Jersey in the Channel Islands, just off the French coast. The eating here is very good with the big French influence. Fresh island mussels, fresh lobster, and it is the season for gorgeous recipes strawberries. We are lucky with the weather, too.
Cheers
Anna

Well isn't it nice that some of us can go off on vacation while the rest of us have to go off to work every day. Well all I can say about that is lucky you. I am jealous. I do hope that you are having a marvelous time and think about us working stiffs from time to time. The weather here in Montreal has been terribly hot. It was 34ºC (93ºF) yesterday and it looks like it's going to stay for a while but we wait all winter for warm weather so I am not complaining. The grand prix is in town this week-end so that will make for some excitement as well. Nice hearing from you and enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Wow.. a vacation.. now that would be fantastic... and the weather... we need it stop raining for awhile here.. Last Tuesday they're saying we got anywhere from 5-9 inches in less than an hour.. caused our little town in North Dakota to flash flood.. so many have damaged homes or lost their homes.. Our home is safe and okay.. and we're thankful for that. Hopefully this summer I'll get a vacation!

Sounds wonderful!

We're full into our strawberry season too, followed closely by raspberries, blueberries, and plums.

Red tide means no oysters though. :(

On a trip to St. Malo we ate a delicious Breton cake which sounds like 'Keeg Annan' but seems to be spelled Kogue.
Reckless, have you a recipe, please :?:

I just happen to have what you are looking for: KOUIGN AMANN

8oz flour
2 cubes of yeast
1 cup of water
8oz of sugar
8oz of butter
1 egg yolk

Add the yeast with a teaspoon of sugar to the water and let sit for 5 minutes
Stir into the flour slowly until you have a slightly sticky elastic dough
Cover with a clean cloth and let proof for about 30 minutes
Useing plenty of flour roll out the dough into a circular shape
Dot the dough with half the butter and sprinkle on half the sugar
Fold the dough over four times to produce a square
Roll out the dough again and repeat the procedure with the butter and sugar
Fold over again four times
Shape the dough to the pan you will be putting it in
Beat the egg yolk and glaze the dough with it
Bake in a 350ºF oven for about 25 minutes
Serve warm
Hope this is what you are looking for.
Enjoy

Gee, you are fast! Thanks. :D I shall have to wait until I am back in Oz to try it.
I guess it is okay to put apple in it if you want but yours sounds like the original.
