Post subject:  First grill of the season!

We have had some unseasonably warm and sunny weather, so bbq's have been coming out of garages all over the place.

We played it simple and bought some brautwurst and real beef franks from our butcher friend. Potato sald, coleslaw and 'three bean' salad rounded it out. Ah, a foretaste of summer. :D

Now it is raining and chilly again, so back to normal.

Post subject:  We did that....

today AGAIN. It's the second time this week we grilled out. Pork loin... mmmmmmmmmm. This is our prime time as the temps are casual and the bugs are still too young to figger out that they are supposed to be chowing down on US.

Tried a new charcoal this time. It's an uncompressed (read 'non-briquette') variety that burns hotter and provides a nice smokey aroma. They are proud of it so it won't become a staple but it will have it's place. It's burning characteristics are different enough that it can change the way you grill.

BTW, you can see the weather we are enjoying here, compliments of my new weather station tagged into the web site. Seems I always have a project up my sleeve.

It has been raining here ever since I posted the original. :( Could haul the bbq up on the porch, but when it is dismal like this, winter comfort foods just seem more appealing. Although I did sneak some 3-bean salad in there a couple of times since.
