Hi all,

I have a recipe that I would like to make this weekend that calls for monosodium glutamate. What the heck is monosodium glutamate?

Is it a natural spice/herb or a man made substance? :?:

Interesting question. The answer is yes and no. In fact, the FDA is having issues with foods containing monosodium glutamate labeled as "All Natural"

Here is a great quote about MSG from an article that I will link at the bottom of the page.

It appears the only reason msg is still on the market is that it is an inexpensive way for companies to add flavor to the processed foods they make.
