Hello, I was wondering if you guys had any opinions on what the best knives would be? Also, where would be the best place to buy knives at a reasonable price? D |

I like the Henckel Knives. Buy them on ebay at a big discount to retail stores. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... %3D2&fgtp= |

Henckel knives are nice but very expensive. I like the Forschner Victorinox knives. They have NSF handles, quality steel and are made by the same company that makes the famous swiss army knife. Jayne |

Have you ever used a Santoku knife? Its not a name brand its a type of knife. The Santoku knife is a Japanese chef knife and comes in many sizes. The Santoku knife cuts very thin slices of meat and/or vegetables and because of the dimpling on the side of the knife nothing sticks to the blade. All the major knife makers are selling them. Try it you will like it! Swede |

Thanks for all your help! I really like the EBay knife purchase idea. I will try it and let you know how it works out. Forschner Victorinox knives are made with stamped steel as opposed to forged. Forged knives hold their edge longer and in my opinion are better balanced. Maybe my 1st purchase will be a forged 8" Santoku. D |

Under $50 budget: Forschner 3-Piece Fibrox set -- is a screaming bargain. It's not beautiful and the steel is merely good, but it will out-perform just about any other knife in this price range. For more stylish knives, KAI's Komachi series is another great choice in this range. |
