We have had a request today for a substition for Sweetened Condensed Milk... Does anyone out there know what the substitution would be?

I had a recipe for sweetend condensed milk and cannot locate it. It had powdered milk, sugar, water and I cannot remember what else. Do you know the ingredients and amounts?

I think that I have an even easier substitute for you. So here goes.
Take one cup of evaporated milk with 1ΒΌ cups of sugar and put into a saucepan.Heat on a medium to medium high heat until the sugar is completely dissolved stirring constantly and let cool.
You now have sweetened condensed milk. To make your own evaporated milk slowly simmer any quantity of milk in a saucepan until it is reduced by 60%. Hopes this helps you.

Does the substitute end up all gooey and sticky and yummy like the tinned stuff?

Yes.Yes.Yes. It becomes thick and creamy like the original.
