Scott's Sloppy Joes
smoky sweet sloppy joes
2 lb ground beef
¼ lb bacon
1 red or sweet onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
1 medium to large tomato (remove seeds), diced
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1½ c ketchup
1/8 c yellow mustard
½ c brown sugar
2 T worcestershire
2 T soy sauce
1 tsp granulated garlic
1 T chili powder
½ c BBQ sauce (your favorite)
Optional:
1 tsp hot sauce

 

1. cook bacon in large skillet, remove cooked bacon to drain on paper towel
2. add ground beef to bacon fat in skillet, brown and drain excess fat
3. chop and add bacon, onion, green pepper, salt, and black pepper
4. cook over medium heat, cook until onions and peppers soften, 3-5 min
5. reduce heat to low and add remaining ingredients
6. simmer for 15-20 min, stirring occasionally
7. taste and adjust seasonings if necessary
