Angel Biscuits
5 cups flour 3/4 cup shortening 3 tsp. baking powder 1 pkg. yeast in 1/2 cup water 2 cups buttermilk 1 tsp. soda 3 Tbls. sugar 1 egg
Sift dry ingrediens. Cut in shortening.
Add buttermilk, yeast and egg, mix thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate until ready to make biscuits.
Roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut. Bake at 420 degrees F. for 12 minutes.
Note: Dough can be made ahead. Keeps well for extended lengths as long as it is covered well and refrigerated. Just take out as much as needed.
Note: dry biscuits are caused from baking in too slow of an oven and handling too much.
