Apple Bread

1 cup sugar 1/2 cup shortening 2 eggs 2 cups sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 1/2 cups diced apples 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream sugar, shortening, and eggs. Add dry ingredients, stir in the apples, vanilla, and nuts. Pour into a greased loaf pan, and sprinkle the top with sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Test for doneness with a toothpick, when it comes out clean, you are done! Enjoy!!
