English Muffin Loaves Makes a Great Gift! |

6 cups flour, divided 2 packages yeast 1 Tbls. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 cups milk 1/2 cup water Cornmeal
|
Put 3 cups flour into a bowl with yeast and other dry ingredients. Heat the milk and water to 130 degrees F. and pour over dry ingredients until well-blended. Add the rest of the flour and mix well. Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle with cornmeal. Divide dough into 2 pans. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes or until just below rim of the pans. Preheat the oven to 400 degress F. and bake for 25 minutes. Cover with foil after 15 minutes if the bread begins to brown too quickly. Slice and toast as you would English muffins. This recipe freezes well!
