Kuchen and Filling
A German Delight!
Dough-
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk, scaulded (or sweet cream)
5-6 cups flour

Filling-
2 eggs, beaten
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cup milk or half cream
3/4 cup sugar
1/8 cup cornstarch

 

Dough-
Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Proceed to mix as any bread dough. Let rise a couple of times and make into several coffee cakes. Amount will depend on how large they are made.

Filling-
Beat eggs, add the salt, add milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Cook until thick in a double boiler. Cool.

Spread your coffee cake with fruit and the filling and bake. Use a 350 degree F. oven and bake about 20 minutes.
