Saffron Braids Traditional, Delicious Swedish Buns! |

50 g yeast 175 g butter 500 ml milk 1g saffron 1 tsp. salt 200 ml sugar 1000 ml flour
|
Crumble the yeast in a bowl.
Melt the cooking fat, pour on the milk and heat the liquid until lukewarm, 100 degrees F.
Stir the yeast with parts of the liquid. Add the rest of the liquid, along with saffron, salt and sugar. Stir cautiously until yeast is dissolved.
Knead in enough flour to make the dough smooth and supple. It should not stick to the bowl. Sprinkle some flour over the dough.
Allow to rise under tea-towel to double size, approximately 45 minutes.
Knead the dough for a few minutes in the bowl. Then knead them on the pastry board along with the rest of the flour.
Make braids or lengths. Put them on greased plates or oven paper.
Let them rise under tea-towels until they are nearly double the size. Brush with whipped eggs.
Bake in lower part of oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
