Busy Morning French Toast
French Toast Prepared a Day Ahead
l cup of brown sugar
l/2 cup butter, melted
3 tsp. ground cimmamon,divided
3 Granny Smith apples (peel, core and slice thin)
l/2 cup raisins
l loaf of Italian or French bread cut into slices
6 large eggs
l-l/2 cup milk
l Tbls. vanilla

 

1. Combine brown sugar, butter and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a 13x9 inch baking dish.

Add apples and raisins and toss to coat well.

Spread apple mixture evenly over bottom of baking dish.

Arrange slices of bread on top.

2. Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and remaining cinnamon until blended well.

Pour mixture over bread, soaking bread completely.

Cover and refrigerator from 6 to 24 hours.

3. Bake covered with foil in a pre-heated 375 degree F. oven for 40 minutes.

Uncover and bake 5 additional minutes. Remove and let sit 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Note: Syrup or powdered sugar may be used when serving. Enjoy!
