My Dad's Porridge Worth the Trouble! |
1 cup flaked oats (NOT the quick-cooking kind) 1 cup whole milk 1 1/4 cups water Pinch salt
If possible, soak the porridge oats overnight in the water.
Put oats, water, milk and salt in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer, stirring, for 10 minutes, adding a dessert spoon or so of water, if getting too thick.
Serve with warmed full-cream milk or milk and cream and drizzle with honey or golden syrup.
My Irish Dad used to eat the lot for breakfast and it kept him going for hours.
