Awesome Tomato Spice Cake

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 8oz. can Hunt's tomato sauce
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup Crisco or Wesson Oil
1 cup chopped nuts, your choice
1 cup raisins

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, spices and salt. Add Hunt's tomato sauce in which baking soda has been dissolved.
Add egg, oil, nuts and raisins. Mix well. Pour into two greased 8-inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
Cool and frost with white or lemon-butter frosting.
