Beef Goulash Hungarian Goulash! |
800g beef, shank is best (Bones just make it more tasty) 2-3 Tbls. oil 2 finely chopped onions 1 clove garlic 1 skinned tomato 1 red or green pepper, sliced 1 Tbls. paprika 1 pinch caraway seed
Saute the finely chopped onion in heated oil. Sprikle with caraway seeds and salt. Add the beef, that is all ready cut into small pieces. Brown well. Lower the heat and cover. Steam for a few minutes. Add the paprika, mix well. Add a little water and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat again. When the meat is 3/4 cooked, add the green pepper, mused garlic, and tomato. Stew at moderate heat, until the meat is tender. If needed, add a little water from time to time.
Serve with cooked caraway seed, potato, or pasta. A cucumber salad also goes well with it! Pork can also be substituted for the beef!
