Savory Breakfast Casserole

Loaf Sourdough Bread, unsliced 4 eggs 2 cups half-n-half (nonfat works fine) 1 pkg. your fav. sausage 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Place sausage in skillet and cook 'til done, crumble with spatula as it cooks. While sausage cooks, cube bread into 1 inch cubes and place in greased casserole dish. Drain sausage, put on top of bread cubes. Put grated cheese on top of that. Mix half-n-half and eggs, whisk together, pour over casserole, trying to incorporate wet mixture everywhere. ( I take a largish spoon and gently press down just to settle ingredients in pan ) You can let this sit overnight in the refrigerator or you can cook it right away. It's good either way...but it's nice to have this for a make-ahead dish, especially over the holidays or when company is in. Bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and golden. Let rest 5-10 min, cut and serve. Reheats well. For more variety, try adding any of the following before you add cheese: ham, pepperoni, hamburger, green pepper, onion, broccoli, chopped tomato, the list is endless, use your imagination! Enjoy!
