Chewy Pecan Squares

Crust: 1 pkg. 18 1/4oz. yellow cake mix 1 egg 1/3 cup vegetable oil
Filling: 1 cup sugar 4 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup corn syrup 1/4 cup margarine, melted 1 tsp. vanilla 2 cups chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
For crust, combine cake mix, egg, and oil in a medium bowl. Press mixture into bottom of greased 9x13 baking pan. Bake 20 minutes.
For filling, beat sugar, eggs, and salt in a large bowl until well blended.
Beat in corn syrup, melted butter and vanilla. Stir in pecans. Pour over hot crust.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30-35 minutes or until brown around the edges and center is set.
Cool completely.
Cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.
Store in an airtight container.
Makes about 3 dozen squares.
