Helens Ginger Cookies Mouth-Watering Ginger Cookies |

3/4 cup shortening 1 1/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup molasses 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, sugar and egg, and then blend in molasses.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, spices and soda.
Stir the flour mixture into the creamed mixture.
Make 1-1/2 inch balls. Roll them in sugar. Place on a cookie sheet and tap down. Sprinkle a little sugar on top.
Bake 8-10 min. They will crack!
Remove to cooling racks. Enjoy!
