Southern Apple Crisp

6 large apples, cored and sliced thinly. 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed) 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/3 cup apple juice
To make topping: 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed) 1/3 cup sugar 2 cups flour 1 stick butter (unsalted) melted
Additional ingredients if desired: Substitute 2/3 cup of oatmeal for flour (thicker tastier crust) Add cup of walnuts to topping mixture
Use any quality cooking apples such as Granny Smith!

In a bowl, stir together all ingredients and mix until apples are coated well.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place mixure in the dish.
To make topping: Stir all dry ingredients together. Stir in melted butter until mixture thickens.
Place topping mixture over apples. Bake for approximately 45 minutes.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream topping.
