Peach and Apple Chutney Tangy Sweet Pickle |

1 kilo (7 medium) peaches, pitted, peeled and chopped (see note below) 1 kilo (5 large) apples, peeled and chopped 2 medium onions, chopped 1 cup chopped raisins 2 tsp. grated fresh ginger 3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 3/4 tsp. ground allspice 3/4 tsp. dry mustard 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind 2 tsp. grated lemon rind 1 1/2 cups orange juice 3 cups white vinegar 2 cups granulated sugar 2 cups brown sugar, well-packed

Put everything EXCEPT the sugar into a large saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 40 minutes, uncovered.
Stir in sugars and stir, without boiling, until sugar dissolves. Simmer, uncovered, until nice and thick (about an hour).
Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal when cold.
Makes about 9 cups.
Delicious with hot or cold meats or as an addition to sandwiches.
Note: Put peaches in a bowl, pour boiling water over and leave for 5 minutes. Skin should come off easily.
