American Chop Suey

1 28oz. can whole peeled tomatoes 1 medium onion diced 1/2 green bell pepper diced 1 cup celery diced 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef chuck 3 Tbls. vegetable oil Salt and black pepper to taste 1 lb. spaghetti 1/2 tsp. crushed red chili pepper (optional)

In a large saute pan, brown ground beef chuck. Discard all drippings. Add vegetable oil, onion, bell pepper and celery and cook until veggies are soft.
Hand crush tomatoes and add to mixture, season with salt and pepper and cook over medium high heat for 30 minutes. Cover tomato mixture, remove from heat and set aside.
Cook 1 lb. spaghetti in boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain spaghetti and add to tomato mixture. Return to medium heat and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
