Bohemian Apple Strudle
1/4 cup sweet milk 1/4 cup butter 1 egg 1/4 tsp. salt flour
2 c. thinly sliced apples 1/2 c. raisins 1/4 c. sugar cinnamon melted butter 1/4 c. nuts 1/4 c. coconut
Warm milk and butter and beat in egg and salt using a fork. Add enough flour to make a dough of pie crust consistency. Turn out on a floured board and beat it for 5 minutes, folding dough constantly. Mold into a ball and cover with a hot skillet for about 10 minutes while preparing apples. Roll out dough as thin as possible with rolling pin (Aunt Tracy used to get it thin enough to see through!) Sprinkle with a cloth with cinnamon. Spread over apples, sugar, nuts, raisins, coconut. Take hold of cloth at corners of one and lift it and roll the strudle as you would a jelly roll. Place on a greased pan and bake about an hour in a 350 degree F. oven. Pour half a cup of thick cream over the strudle when half baked and then finish baking it. (I always soak the raisins in warm water.)
