Crazy Crust Apple Pie

1 cup All-Purpose Flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 Tbls. sugar 1 egg 2/3 cup shortening 3/4 cup water 1 can apple pie filling 1 Tbls. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. apple spice

In small mixer bowl, combine first 7 ingredients. Blend well; beat 2 minutes at medium speed of mixer. Pour batter into 9-inch pie pan.
Combine pie filling, lemon juice and spice; pour into center of batter. Do Not Stir.
Bake at 425 degrees F. for 45 to 50 minutes. As the pie bakes, the filling sinks down and the batter comes up around to make a crust.
This pie recipe is from the 1970's. We delighted watching the apples sink to the bottom of the batter through the oven door window. This made us more excited to eat the pie later.
