Treacle Tart An Old-Fashioned English Favorite! |

9 oz. (250g) Shortcrust pastry 11 Tbls. (200ml) Golden syrup (approx) 1 heaped tsp. Ground ginger (optional) 4oz. (110g) Breadcrumbs

Preheat oven to 400 F/200 C/or Gas Mark 6. Roll out pastry and place in a 9 inch fluted flan dish-pushed well into the corners.
Warm the golden syrup in a sauce pan. Add the ginger and stir in the breadcrumbs.
Pour the breadcrumb mixture into the pastry case and bake for 20-25 minutes!
Treacle Tart can also be made as above, but omit the ginger and add 2 Tbls. lemon juice to the syrup and breadcrumb mixture.
