Apple Pork Chops Simple and good! |
|
|
1 Large bottle apple juice 4 porkchops-boneless or not boneless cooking oil
|
Heat a bit of oil in a frying pan.(use a reasonably large pan because it has to hold the bottle of juice later on).
Brown the pork chops until they are nice and golden. DO NOT SEASON! (also, it's O-K if they are not cooked through at this point; they will cook more later).
When they are golden, add the bottle of apple juice. Bring up to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer.
It is good to simmer them for at least 2 hours so they become extremely tender. If you need to, crack the top of the pot so some steam can escape and it does not boil over. Turn every now and then, and make sure it isn't so hot that they begin to get too dark or burned.
Cook until the apple juice is reduced to a sticky sauce. BE CAREFUL not to burn it at this point!
NOTE: If chops have not reached desired tenderness by the time the juice evaporates alot, you may add water as needed.
TIP: If making pork gravy or stuffing with this, use some apple juice in place of water to add flavor and tie in the whole meal.
