Christmas Eve Fish Chowder

1 lb. cod or sole 1/3 cup onions 1 cup carrots 3 cups water 1/8 tsp. pepper pinch sugar 2 tbsp. butter 2 cups diced potato 1 cup celery 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. M.S.G. 6 oz. tin condensed evaporated milk

Place first ingredients in pot (omit cod). Boil gently until cooked. Add fish. Simmer 10 mins. or until fish is cooked. Add milk. Re-heat, but do not boil. Shrimp, mussels, crab, may also be added if preferred
