Rina's Fish Jhaal
Olive oil
1-2 chopped onions
Fresh oily and firm white fish (500g)
1 teaspoon nigella seeds
1 fresh red chilli finely chopped
1 tablespoon of freshly ground (into a paste) brown mustard seeds *It is okay to use yellow as well but brown tastes nicer. Grind in a mortar and pestle.
1-2 teaspoons turmeric
1/2 tablespoon mustard oil
2 tablespoons coriander

1. Fry fish in olive oil. Be quite generous with the oil.
2. Remove fish and place on paper towel to drain.
3. Fry chopped onions in the same oil until golden brown.
4. Add to the pan nigella seeds, chopped fresh chilli, ground brown mustard and dried chillies.
5. Add as much water into onion mix depending on how much 'sauce' you require.
6. Add fish, turmeric and simmer for a little while.
7. Stir in a little mustard oil if handy (optional) and fresh chopped coriander.
8. Serve with rice.
