June 16th 2004 is the centenary of Bloom's Day, celebrating Irish writer James Joyce. Raise a glass of Guiness to the man who changed literature forever and put gorgonzola sandwiches on the map!

... but that kinda attitude about Guinness will require some review. Now maybe you'll tell me what the heck is gorgonzola. I presume it's NOT a brand of toilet paper.

gorgonzola is just about the strongest blue cheese one can buy. It is named for a small Italian town. I can't get it in Oz because we aren't allowed to import it-something to do with with live cultures, I expect. So we make do with our own delicious blue cheeses.

Okay so you say we have to review guiness beer so here goes. Tried it,really, really didn't like it. So there is your review. In a nutshell,I hate it. As for gorgonzolla go out and get some. Try it sprinkled on a salad or eaten with fruit like pears then come back and give us your review.(Just don't use it as toilet paper) If you want to try a really nice dark beer go for Newcastle Brown. Much better tasting.[b][i]

Is Newcastle Brown Canadian? You send me a carton and I'll send you a carton of South Australian Southwark Premium (all by cyber-mail, of course.)
Why are we three the only ones grading the world's beers and stouts? Come on world, we are all busy people but we can find a moment for some fun.

Newcastle Brown is from England. Newcastle to be exact. If you do get a chance to try it you will really like it. Ver-r-r-r-y smooth. You can check it out on newcastlebrown.com

Newcastle isn't at the 'top' of my list, but it's a fine quaffer. What I have in the fridge at the moment for my Father's Day enjoyment is Yuengling Lager which is brewed in Pottsville, Pennsylvania (purportedly America's oldest brewery).

I happen to like St.Pauli Girl. It is a german lager and very tasty. Being from Canada your beer is not available here but if a company is around that long they must have something going for them.
